Boba Fett by Jedi-Art-Trick Boba Fett by Jedi-Art-Trick
Done as an xmas present for my sister. I was inspired by the Mythos figure, but didn't adhere to the details too closely.

Boba Fett, masked as he should be. That was one of my complaints about the prequels--they never should have unmasked one of their last mysterious badasses. I'm glad that this new series from Abrams seems to be focusing on normal people, and with most of existing canon being invalidated we can return to a time when the Force was much more subtle and we have less crap with space wizards.

The onlu thing that bothers me about him is that it looks like if he is wearing sweatpants, but in this picture it looks better

I wish we could undo the prequel canon as well. Back to square one- no more Vader backstory or "chosen one," no Fett clones, no Yoda fights, no more contorting the entire universe and story to fill the fan service quota.

Yep. I like that the new main characters are original characters, not reusing old ones hamfistedly. That was one of my major complaints is that, by reusing the same characters over and over, the galaxy seems so tiny.

It's unfortunate that we seem to be of radically differing opinions. I disagree. What's the point of making Prequels if you're not going to reintroduce elements and plot threads that appeared in the Original story? I don't see how giving us a look into someone's past immediately invalidates the impact of their future.

You can't argue that the Jedi and the Force weren't the one thing that tied the Original Trilogy together. They're as integral as the sci-fi/fantasy setting. I'll agree that the Prequels and all subsequent content may have dabbled more than they should have in Jedi, Sith and the Force while treating everything else that made Star Wars as accessible and varied as it is as little more than an afterthought, but beyond that, the Prequels reintroducing elements was not wrong. If anything, the Prequels made the galaxy much larger, not smaller. It allowed us to see worlds and locations much more unique than anything we saw in the Originals.

"I've said this a few times, but it's a complex idea that's hard to get across. I'm approaching these films, for better or worse, like a symphony. I have a lot of themes that I keep repeating over and over again through the whole thing. Different notes and different instrumentation, but when you see all six movies together you'll see that there's a lot of recurring notes being played. Sometimes they're played with the oboe, and sometimes they're played with the violin, and sometimes they're played with a full orchestra. And it's done on purpose. And it's also done in different facets. It's something I toyed with in my very first film, THX, which is to take various ideas and show different aspects of them, but out of context."

>when the Force was much more subtle and we have less crap with space wizards.

I'm not sure how you can assume that when the subtitle for the new film is "The Force Awakens". Which is a pretty bad subtitle, imo - way too indicative of what to look forward to, whereas the subtitles for the last two trilogies, sans their respective final Episodes, were relatively topically neutral in regards to making direct references.

The point is that the Force apparently went away after the defeat of the Emperor. It is now coming back, which means more subtle stuff. At least, those are the current rumors and speculation. I wasn't making a completely unwarranted assumption. :P

That's not exactly subtle. The Star Wars film titles started off vague and got more topical as they went on from start to finish, and they mirrored each other, as was Lucas' intent.

A New Hope -> The Empire Strikes Back -> Return of the Jedi

The Phantom Menace -> Attack of the Clones -> Revenge of the Sith

Hope/Menace. Strike/Attack. Return/Revenge.

A more reasonable explanation for the new title would be in that following the destruction of the Jedi Order, the Empire moved to dispel any belief in the Force. This works because the Clone Army was basically the strength the Jedi needed to "keep the peace", as Mace mentioned the Order was diminishing in both number and their ability to use the Force. The Clones could do what the Jedi did, but en masse. The Death Star was meant to replace the Force entirely, and to add further insult to injury, was basically a giant, planet-killing lightsaber. The Dark Side of the Force is a cancer in the Force and with the end of the Jedi, came the metaphorical end of the Force - only the Dark Side mattered from that point on. With the deaths of Darth Vader and the Emperor, the Dark Side's power has been diminished, and so allows the Force as it should be to awaken again.

That said, "The Force Awakens" is still a poor title. It's something pulled out of a list of the usual low budget Star Wars fan film titles, and does not work with the established symmetry of the saga.

But of course, it's just a title. Then again, titles are important.

We almost got that with 1313, but it probably didn't pass the focus group testing with the ten year olds.

Nowadays Star Wars is all about the Saberslingers. Jedi and Sith. I really like the Force Users and the light sabers, but I often think, that great characters like Boba here don't get the attention they deserve. Bounty Hunters, Smugglers and all the other characters, that make the galaxy so rich with life.
I really like this here. All the details. It almost feels, as if he turns around any second and walks away.

Boba Fett's problem is that he got too much attention and now we know waaay too much about him. But I know what you mean. It's all about the jedi and sith. Characters who are easy to write and boring because of their strong beliefs and faction affiliation.

Exactly. If a Force-user encounters a very difficult situation, he uses the force. If that happened to Boba, he'd have to rely on his wits. That's more complicated to write.

Right but I mean also Jedi and Sith are not written as people, they're written as jedi and sith. Their personalities are so generic.

I'm afaraid that's true. Each one of the Bounty Hunters, that hunted Han Solo has more personality than 90% of all Sith and Jedi combined. There are just a few rare exceptions.
