The Final Strike by Jedi-Art-Trick The Final Strike by Jedi-Art-Trick
Obviously I love the whole 'Jedi/Mandalorian Rivalry' thing so here's my version of a one on one duel that's about to end. I make no opinions (officially) but one of these two isn't getting back up.

Looking at it, I think the background is indeed lame, but I had no brilliant ideas about what to do with it.

This was colored in Painter X.

Oh, sorry man, I meant to make this a standalone comment, not a reply to your post. Wasn't looking where I was clicking.
But I'm certain the Jedi would win. He has the Force, he wouldn't even need to touch the mando.

The Jedi don't use the Force to its fullest extent. If it's a Sith we're referring to, then, yes, the Mandalorian won't last very long. But the Sith and the Mandos have historically been allies amiright?

They don't use the Force to its fullest extent? What do you mean by that? The Dark side?
The Sith don't have allies, they have tools.

Any Sith worth his nuts values his allies. The media constantly portrays them as manipulative and cruel, but who runs the media?
The Republic, the Jedi.
Propaganda. Of course there're bad eggs like Sidious, but the Jedi aren't without their faults.

Obly until they've served their purpose. The Sith are manipulative and cruel. Sidious was responsible for the deaths of countless trillions, destroyed or rendered uninhabitable a number of planets, Krayt attempted to commit genocide on the Mon Calamari race, Bane made a father watch as he murdered his children.

The Jedi never wiped out entire species. Yes, they have their faults, but they don't to to the extremes that the Sith do.

colours are wrong for Fett; knee pads, chest plate and helmet "T" are all wrong.  Just a random Mando.  but yeah, my money is on him.

Anyone ever notice how the samurai resemble the Jedi when dressed casually (in robes) and resemble the madalorians when wearing armor? I know that the Jedi are heavily influenced by aspects of the samurai culture (robes, importance of lightsaber, development of mental focus, a code of civil duty), and that the mandalorians are supposed to be based off of Celts, but I'm starting to think that there's just as much samurai in the mandalorians as in the Jedi (the use of armor, the importance of family and honor, dedication to martial skill and seeking glory in battle, as well as an instinctual drive to conquer).

These aspects of mandalorian culture were/still are being evolved by writers wanting to play to the fans. I agree that there are some cultural similarities. Visually, the only thing they have in common is the fact that they personalize their armor.

Star Wars' overall "look" is being changed by artists of the newer generation, for the worse in my opinion, to look more like medieval or high fantasy.

I don't mind the back ground, it allows the viewers to focus on the Mando and the Jedi. Personally I hope the Mando wins.

What's so incredibly awesome about the Mandalorians is that they don't have to be Force-sensitive in order to be badass characters. Too often, Star Wars literature puts too much emphasis on Jedi/Sith characters and makes the rest of us "common" people feel pretty useless to the story.

Let's be honest, though. Being a Force-sensitive Mando would be doubly awesome.

Their attitude is what makes them both dangerous and cool. If you wake up every morning and devote yourself all day to being the baddest mofo in the galaxy, you don't need the force. :)

Love the motion in this and the scarring on the Mando's armor.
Hope the Mando won.
People only wearing long flowing robes in battle deserve to get stabbed.

I rather like the fact that jedi wear no armor. I was disappointed in the jedi/sith designs for the new TOR game.

It just seems impractical and almost foolishly arrogant to wear something so loose and flimsy. Its like their mindset is "My force powers are so totally awesome that I know for a fact that I am never going to get hit by anything EVER, and my robes will never snag on anything, and no one will ever take advantage of the fact that I have all this flowy grabbable cloth hanging off of me." Then again the first part may be justified seeing as stormtroopers can't aim for shit.

As for the TOR designs, I could take it or leave it. Either way I'm playing a bounty hunter.

I think they don't dress for battle because they usually try to avoid it.

Maybe in a strictly diplomatic setting it would be ok but they still wear the cloaks when they know they're going in severely hostile situations. I mean they carry weapons everywhere they go, why not prepare the rest of the way and put on some body armor.

I would've went with a forest background and have it motion blurred to look like they are in the middle of some fierce rotation.

Other than that, this really captures quite a decisive conclusion.

Boba Fett and Iron Man were my best 2 figures when I was young. I guess it's the armor and the flying capability. Rocketeer also falls in that category.

I think :iconblood-dodo: may be correct: it could well be that they'll both be down for good in the end here... I'm blown away by the fantastic energy and movement here--as though we've caught a single frame in a very frenzied scene--the movement of the robes and twisting of the figures is awesome, and the light and details make my eyes water... **rubs them** Fabulous work here, and something that deserves to be on a BIG poster for sale at a con somewhere!

Hey, thanks a lot! I should do a very morose illustration of the two after their blows have landed and they're both laying on the ground thinking "what were we fighting about again?" (Then again, it's called "Star Wars", not "Star Pacifists") ;)

Glad to see you back on DA, by the way.

"I should do a very morose illustration of the two after their blows have landed and they're both laying on the ground thinking "what were we fighting about again?" "

 Indeed! That might be an interesting diptych with this one... **thinking** And you're right--it IS Star WARS, after all (...and there always seems to be one going on in the GFFA...). I'm slowing getting out from under all the stuff I had going on, though things are still too busy to draw much right now--at least I can get in a couple of comments now and then! Great work on this--and you're welcome!

The mandalorian is 100% dead, but judging from his position it's not a big stretch to say that he'll be taking the jedi with him :D

I got the idea from a manga to have two combatants back to back, both spinning to be the first one to deliver a killing stroke. I agree- it's very possible that they'll kill each other.

But I guess that's what they both deserve for not being more diplomatic. ::):

It's a little bit like the counter-manoeuvre the Sith used in the 'Deceived' trailer, only there is backwards - he rolled away from the killing blow and delivered one of his own :)

Currently I'm using Painter X but truthfully, the basic program changes so little from version to version that it makes little difference.
