Quarren Jedi Technician by Jedi-Art-Trick Quarren Jedi Technician by Jedi-Art-Trick
Continuing to explore digital painting possibilities. This fellow is a quarren jedi and a mechanic/technician. I imagine not every jedi is a warrior-monk-peacekeeper. Some of them must have other skills and jobs, right? So I made one who is a tech-head first, and a jedi second. I imagine this cranky quarren squatting over a broken droid in the temple basement, trying to quickly fix it so he can move on to the other hundred tasks that require a skilled gear-head. Hey, who else is gonna do it?

An excellent idea. You get the impression that Jedi do all kinds of things, but we mostly see them in times of trouble so we get the warriors and the fighting training.

Like a lot of Star Wars, there has been a devolution as we've learned more about jedi. They are now basically sanctimonious acrobats with lazer swords. The mystery and intrigue from the original trilogy is long gone.

very cool design.  While the primary mandate of the Jedi is to pursue justice throughout the Galaxy, many choose to learn and apply various skills and technical abilities.

It looks great and its fun to see a different kind of jedi then just the normal fighting-peacekeepers and i really like all of the equipment in the painting 'cause they look so cool! :)

I very much like the idea of Jedi having skills in other areas other then kicking ass, Anakin tinkered with things most of his life, there would be jedi down in the basement tinkering with broken droids.

Love it!

I do have to admit that is an interesting concept, you took both of my Star Wars OCs and combined them into one. I like it.

Absolutely awesome!:clap: I, too, imagine all sorts of Jedi "specialists:" techs, healers, perhaps even chefs and farmers. There are gifts galore in the universe--having a command of the Force would be one of them, but most certainly not the ONLY one! I love the details here--his tool belt, the data "cuff" he's wearing, the texturing in his flesh and clothing--even the greasy smudges on the wall behind him. It all adds to the ambience and anchors him beautifully. Gorgeous light--it's all just wonderful (and we don't see many Quarren either, so that's just icing on the proverbial cake!)!:+fav:

Yeah, they're supposed to be inconspicuous looking but the prequel trilogy turned the simple robe getup that Ben wore into an official uniform...

In one of the books I read around the time we were still waiting for Episode 3 to come out, Count Dooku said something to the effect of the Jedi robes actually being the Tatooine moisture farmer's outfit that Luke and Uncle Owen were wearing in the original Star Wars (no I don't call it Ep 4 or "A New Hope". It's just "Star Wars" dang it! :XD: ). I guess the idea was that the Tatooine moisture farmer was just about the most humble, unassuming job in the entire galaxy, and the Jedi were to have no more possessions and/or clothing than that. How they end up with a gigantic temple, super computers, holo-projectors, analysis droids, the library of freakin' congress, and the coolest weapons ever conceived is beyond me, given that reasoning. :XD:

Maybe their "church" gets donations from EVERYWHERE in their galaxy. :XD:

I didn't know that- I always figured by 'unassuming' they meant clothing that made them blend in with wherever they were, which I figured meant that they had various things they wear, yet nothing fancy. It irks me as an artist that almost all jedi wear essentially the same thing. It is visually boring to me.

I also doubt they get many donations, I but I guarantee that they are tax-exempt!

 Which is why whenever I imagine a new Jedi, they almost always wear something different. :XD:
