Leia and Vader by Jedi-Art-Trick Leia and Vader by Jedi-Art-Trick
This was just me really wanting to paint a redeemed (yet still alive) Darth Vader and Leia wearing a white getup like Padme wore in episode 2, just for fun.

The idea came from the Star Wars Infinites Return of the Jedi comic, in which Vader is actually saved by Luke and Leia and turns away from the dark side, joining the rebellion. In the last panel, he dons a completely white suit of his armor. I thought that was a neat idea, but the white armor was a bit much. I just wanted to give a little more "sith-turned-jedi" vibe from him, while I wanted to give Leia a little more "hot-in-a-tight-white-suit" vibe. ;)

Do love this reimaging even if its not quite what played out (but when has the corporate gospel stopped anyone to make up their own canon huh?)

it does intrigue me on, if Vader was resigned with a white, or at least brighter, color pallet how would the helmet look to differentiate him from the half skull-half nazi war helmet look? More of a classic samurai or monk look? like a smooth white helmet with less skeletal features or at the least more softened ones.

Then again that might go against his iconic look in the first place. well, always speculation there I suppose.

See I don't think he'd want to redesign himself too much. He would likely wear that mask as a sort of grim burdensome reminder. He wouldn't want to forget what happened to him, and that reminder would serve Luke and Leia as well- they have great power and high ideals just like Anakin had. But no one is immune to the dark side.

That said, it would be fun to visually explore... Ugh, now I have to. I already have a few images in my head :O

Hi there! On May 4th I’m hosting an online event of Star Wars fan art. It’s not a contest nor is there any money involved or anything like that. Just somewhere people can mark the occasion by sharing art of theirs if they have it or just to look and discover new artists and their work.

I was wondering if I could include this piece? Of course I’ll be sure to include credit and a link to your page.

Sure, go ahead.
SumtimesIplaytheFool Featured By Owner Apr 18, 2016  Hobbyist

Excellent! Many thanks.

Here’s the link to where it will be displayed if you want to make sure everything is on the up and up. And if you have any more work you’d like to share, please feel free…as longs as it’s Star Wars related, of course :)…

This is fantastic! Love the concept!

This is like an alternate ending to Episode 6 where Vader survives the death star and helps train the new generation of jedi with Luke as the first Grand Jedi Master of the new order :)
DrNietzsche Featured By Owner Jan 13, 2016
This is very clever, though I think gray & muted blue would be more appropiate for a 'Light Side' or at least Redeemed Vader than brown.

I think this would have been a interesting idea instead of his  sacrifice in jedi

Ever since I was 10 and watched Return of the Jedi for the first time I've wanted to see Leia become a Jedi like Luke and Anakin. (Although that doesn't look to happen in TFA :( )This is great! I love your name btw.

I know, I thought it was so unfair that she was never able to train her powers like her dad and brother. However, considering that she has many of her father's personality flaws (like his temper); she might've suffered a similar fate as her father had.

Yeah I agree but she's just as cool leading the galactic rebellion. There's more than one way to be formidable.

If it were possible, I'd bet that Anakin would probably find a way to obtain a less restrictive life support unit (Maybe something Similar to Kabal from Mortal Kombat) and more up to date prosthetics now that he's no longer a pawn in the Emperor's chess game.
Jedi-Art-Trick Featured By Owner Jul 2, 2015  Professional Digital Artist
I feel like if a less restrictive life support system existed, he would have adopted it while he had the limitless resources of the empire behind him. I mean he can't even be without his helmet unless he's in a special chamber. The original trilogy implied heavily that he was way too fucked up physically to be outside his suit, and I like the fact that he's trapped in there now for what he's done and been through. His design is sort of a visual metaphor; he will be forever encased in a tough black mechanical shell surrounded by darkness. Even redeemed, he carries that with him.

Problem is, Starkiller's suit (or at least a variation of it) was meant for Vader, but the Emperor was afraid he'd die while changing suits.
SpiderTrekfan616 Featured By Owner Jul 2, 2015  Hobbyist General Artist
There is an alternative to the less restrictive life support system, If you've played the second "Force Unleashed" game you'll know that he developed a system for cloning those who are force sensitive (A feat previously thought to be impossible until Vader managed to successfully clone Starkiller) If that's possible and there's enough intact DNA he could possibly clone a new body for himself and perform some sort of synaptic displacement transferring his consciousness to his clone There is a catch for the clone body however. The Clone body is disfigured in a way that resembles Vader's scarring but is otherwise healthy.

Epic...simply epic work, Jedi-Art-Trick! I can just picture the smirk on Anakin's face under the helmet at having his kickass daughter by his side :D

I like how this could have happened in the actual Starwars universe because if Anakin had helped defeat Sideous he probably would have been horribly scarred like he was by Obi-wan.

Ever since I saw that comic I thought the same thing. The only difference in my mind was that I pictured his helmet and the stripes on his chest armour getting a chrome treatment.

I fully support your "hot-in-a-tight-white-suit" treatment of Leia.

I always pictured if  Vader survived and become a Jedi again he would have a more brown colored  cape and stuff.

I would just wonder how Luke (and perhaps Leia if she was as forgiving) would convince the Rebel hierarchy not to execute Lord Vader for his role in various war crimes. I can't imagine the ground troops having a good time with him around. Especially some of the officers who are aware of how 'Vader' treats commanders with a history of tactical failure. Sure, the news of defection would demoralise the storm troopers who once idolised the man as a field general (especially the 501st) and rebel tacticians would see the value of another force wielding combatant on their side. However, the Rebels still wouldn't place their good faith on Luke's word alone.

I can even see the awkward atmosphere around Han solo and 'Anakin.'

Han: "So... uh... you tortured me and froze me in a carbon tank!"

Anakin: "I was but the tool, the instrument of the emperor."

Han: "Tool my ass! By the way, I'm screwing your daughter."

Anakin: *Do not choke, do not choke, do not choke!*
rababco Featured By Owner Sep 25, 2015  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
 Something tells me Anakin would have a hard time accepting Han and Leia being in a relationship. Between his over-protective father instinct and his difficulty controlling his temper, Han might be in big trouble.

Now I kind of want that to be a thing. It'd be pretty hilarious... But you're right about the people not trusting, despite everything e (Assuming this is an alternate ending to The Return of the Jedi when it comes to achievements)  I don't think his words would be enough to change the Rebel's view on him, then again (I've never read the comic this is inspired by so I have no idea how it turn out, so if I am wrong with this alternate ROTJ then feel free to current me) Him killing the Emperor could help change some opinions about him.

Really like this one! Goes along with the Infinities series I read, the RotJ one has Vader being redeemed and not dying. This is a beautiful piece of a rarely seen duo! :D

i love it. some people feel that there's this character created by whoever created them with a specific story, and that's the character. i think it's a lot more fun and interesting to play with the characters, expand them, and reimagine them. i've always wondered what darth vader would be like if he were on our side, that would allow for an interesting interaction with a lot of the other characters. Yah, he got burned, but he didn't go to the dark side; i think that's an interesting concept.
TheQuietSoul21 Featured By Owner Oct 28, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
They may have been non-canon, but I really enjoyed the Infinities comics, seeing how differently they could take the stories we knew and loved and create and entirely new chain of events.

I'm really hoping they do an Infinities version of the prequel series, that would be interesting.

I like that because of his redemption you changed his robes to traditional "Jedi/ brown"
Codeyellow07 Featured By Owner Sep 14, 2013
The brown robes make a HECK of a lot more sense. Remember the suit is intermingled with his cybernetic body and is what keeps him alive. I don't think too many Rebels would want to redo the whole suit for 1. Takes too much time and resources  and 2. They certainly aren't going to welcome him with open arms for a very long time since...y'know he destroyed most of their friends and families. This is a guy who would still be intimidating and has a lot to atone for. Not a happy Jedi. The brown robes replacing the Sith ones definitely make a statement that Darth Vader has died and Anniken has returned once and for all. I even imagine him being apart of the New Jedi Counsel. Nice to give him back a blue Guardian lightsaber (whether his old one or a newly constructed one).

I do like the idea of Vader having a tense relationship with the rebels, most of whom would still hate him.
