Cyborg Snake by Jedi-Art-Trick Cyborg Snake by Jedi-Art-Trick
Let's say for fun that Snake wanted to keep doing his military-saving-the-world-super-soldiering, and had his remaining functional body parts merged with a cyborg body like Raiden.

Probably not how it should be, but he has come out of retirement at least three times already. Fighting is just his destiny. Why let a thing like accelerated aging stop him? We'll have to pretend he found a way to remove the Foxdie virus and stuff. :P

I imagine playing an MGS game where you are a rookie spec ops soldier and your CO is Old Snake, showing you the ropes while chain smoking and grumbling and dropping fanservice references to his previous adventures. Damn, that would be cool. Maybe he would change his code name to Big Snake or something lol

In MGR 2, Raiden should discover this Snake assisting him during a mission.

I like it.  I imagine this:

(Gruff voice) He was wrong. The world needs a Boss, and it needs a Snake.  OK. Let's see what this kid's got.  This is the Boss to Snake, what's your status?

I also see him switching to Cigars.

Otacon: I thought you gave up smoking?

Boss: I thought I gave up a lot of things.  Besides, I only gave up cigarettes.  This is a cigar.

YES! I didn't think of that.

Snake drilling FOXHOUND recruits on the reality of the battlefield while chomping a huge cigar is now my headcanon image. Because he re-forms FOXHOUND and recruits the next generation of freaky boss fights. :D

Personally I feel like that if the series is to continue, Snake needs to pass the torch to a worthy successor.  It could have been Raiden, but even as he's grown into a competent operative he maintains a spirit of defeat.

Snake's successor, the next Snake, needs to be a man that does the impossible, not because he's amazing, and not because he has the best equipment, but simply because that's what it takes to finish the mission.  That said, in the beginning of his first mission I'd forgive a comment like "You expect me to go toe to toe with a tank? All I've got is a handgun and a few grenades!"

I also feel like it would help to restore some character to the bosses.  Perhaps because of the more open world the B&B corp of 4 didn't have the same depth as the Foxhound rebels of the original, or even the same feeling that defeating them dealt a blow to the enemy forces that was evident in the predecessors.

The B&B Corp was a bit of a letdown for me as well. They seemed to be separate from the main story of the game, like they were just wacky diversions for male players to oogle at. Although I will admit the fights themselves were super fun and inventive, and I think the fight against Crying Wolf is now my favorite boss fight ever.

As for a successor, I think Meryl's Rat Pack is pretty interesting- maybe enough for another game. And if they had Snake as a mission CO..... well I'd play that in a heartbeat. :D

I like it.  Meryl's rookie mission was with Snake as a mentor, and now she's a hardened vet with a must be done attitude.

I would play MGS as Meryl. Old Boss (or whatever we'd call Dave now) as Commander, Johnny (Akiba) on tech support, Ed as councilor, and Jonathon providing weapons support.
Meryl: Silver Snake?
